PSD & ALDE & UDMR MPs voted in the Parliamentary Judicial Committee that some of the sentences for corruption should not be served in prison anymore, but at home or at weekends. This is a vote for more and larger bribes without any punishment.
Let me give you an example: minister A has taken a bribe to block or remove certain medications for the chronic patients from the list of compensations; or mayor B has taken a bribe to issue operating licenses for public places (bars, restaurants etc.) that may turn out dangerous for people’s lives; or hospital director C, appointed by political intervention, has taken a bribe to buy disinfectants of poor quality; they are caught and sentenced to 4 years in prison. They can serve their sentences at home, or only on weekends, not in jail, but in „special centres”. These „special centres” may well be mansions.
The decision of the minister, mayor or the hospital director who has taken bribes may result in the death of chronically ill persons, of young people in clubs or in the illness of some people due to hospital infections. Therefore, as they do not serve the sentence in prison, more and larger bribes will be requested throughout the administration, from those in government to the lowest level civil servants.
For PSD & ALDE & UDMR corruption is a petty crime one needs to „pay” for from the comfort of one’s own home.
The rest of us know the truth: corruption kills! Therefore, it should be punished severely.
We shall not let them steal our lives and stay unpunished.
